Restorative

Deep relaxation of the body, mind and spirit, using props.

A style of yoga practice using props and postures held for longer periods of time to initiate deep relaxation of the body, mind and spirit. Restorative yoga is beneficial to balance a more active practice or decompress after a stressful day.

Melt tension in your hips, hamstrings, quads, and spine with this Restorative practice that gently progresses through seated and Lunging postures (no standing included). It’s great for runners and cyclists or if you spend all day hunched at a desk. Start with 90/90, Janu Sirsasana, and Thread The Needle, then flow through Lunge, Cobra, Sphinx, and Virasana before landing in Supported Baddha Konasana. This relaxing Restorative practice works with the Waning Moon phase. You’ll explore select key poses to release, surrender, and reflect as the moonlight begins to diminish in the sky. Postures include Supported Spinal Twist, Caterpillar Pose, Supported Bridge, Supported Child’s Pose, Savasana, and a supported inversion. This class previously aired on April 3, 2024. Start with a heart-opening Fish Pose, then move into lower-body and back-focused postures, including Reclined Twist, Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle or Butterfly Pose), Parivrtta Janu Sirsasana (Revolved Head-To-Knee Pose), Supta Padangusthasana (Reclined Hand-To-Big-Toe Pose), and Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Fold). Balance the energy in your mind and body with this Restorative practice that focuses on the pauses between inhales and exhales. Start with Sama Vritti Pranayama (Equal Breathing or Box Breath), then move slowly through prop-supported versions of Child’s Pose, Upavistha Konasana (Wide-Angle Forward Fold), Bridge, and a twist before finishing in a breath-led Savasana.
