Techniques for channeling and directing your energy by consciously controlling your breath.

Breathwork is a combination of ancient and contemporary techniques for channeling and directing your energy by consciously controlling your breath. Practiced either seated or reclined, the classes involve slowing the breath down, speeding it up, retaining the breath for given durations, and manipulating the nostrils to direct the flow of energy through different nadis (energy channels). Depending on the practice, breathwork can leave you feeling energized, focused, calm, relaxed, or ready for sleep. Please start your journey with short simple classes and build gently.

Enjoy this slow sequence that stretches and strengthens with a supine series, core work, Down Dog to Plank, Lunges, and fascia and shoulder release with a ball. This effective practice blends gentle movement with breathwork to enhance your sense of calm and clarity. Move slowly through Lunges and Half Split, then practice Bhramari Pranayama (Bee Breath) and Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breath), followed by Figure Four, a supine twist, and Savasana. Fine-tune your focus with breathwork that increases your mind-body awareness, a great tool for relieving stress. This class includes Murcha Pranayama (breath technique), Jalandhara Bandha (chin lock), and a body scan. It is only recommended if you’re feeling energetic and present, as Murcha Pranayama can cause lightheadedness. This class previously aired on September 13, 2022.

Clear your mind and find a sense of ease with guided breath techniques. Explore versions of Sama Vritti (Box Breathing) and Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) with counts to bring an understanding of pranayama (breathwork practices). This is a seated class, so incorporate props to help you find maximum comfort. This class previously aired on September 9, 2022.

This mostly-seated class is an excellent introduction to breathwork and a great practice to return to for clarity and peace. Begin reciting Om Mantra three times, then slowly move through stretches like Half Lotus, side bends, and head circles to prepare for Vritti Pranayama and Nadi Shodhana Pranayama (breath techniques). This short but significant class takes you through a guided relaxation with one of yoga’s tried and true breathing techniques, Viloma Pranayama or Layer Cake Breathing, to focus your thoughts and balance your nerves. Deepen your breath in three parts within your body to reset your system and return to your day fresh.

Practice a variety of breath techniques that work well to calm your mind and connect you to your physical body while you’re traveling or on the go. Relax into your seat and bring awareness to the breath filling your lungs, then practice “reframing” breathing patterns and “breath play”. This class previously aired on July 12, 2022.

Embrace the power of breathwork to bring your body and mind to a cool, calm place. This practice begins by simply observing the flow of breath, then guides you in counting, lengthening, and pausing techniques to allow your breath to lead you to relaxation. Plus, end class with a reading of a Rainer Maria Rilke poem. This class previously aired on July 7, 2022.

This practice uses gentle movement and breathwork to integrate your mind, body, energy, and spirit and enhance your overall presence. Prepare for stillness with spinal movements, side bends, and Down Dog, then practice Alternate Nostril Breathing, Breath of Fire, and meditation to finish. Practice a rhythmic pranayama technique to find your flow in the constant evolution of life. Start with brief hip, spine, and neck stretches to prepare your body and mind for seated breathwork and meditation. This technique is used in the Infinity Breath Flow; we recommend you take these classes together, this one first. This class was previously aired on May 3, 2022. Props Suggested: a blanket.
