Breathwork

Traditional Yogic and contemporary techniques to consciously guide the breath for specific outcomes

Rooted in yoga traditions, Breathwork combines ancient and contemporary meditation techniques for channeling and directing energy with the breath. Practiced either seated or reclined, this style of meditation includes controlling the breath’s speed, retaining the breath, manipulating the nostrils, noticing where the breath is in the body, and more. Breathwork can enhance athletic performance, build focus in the workplace, and create openness in relationships. More mind-body benefits include feeling calm, relaxed, energized, or sleep prep.

Whenever you need a sense of calm, turn to this class. Observe your breath and practice Ratio Breathing (4, 5, 6 counts), slowly adding length to the inhales, pauses, and exhales. This mind-calming Kundalini practice features breathwork, simple dynamic spinal movements, soothing meditation, and Sat Kriya to leave you feeling peaceful and centered. Enjoy a 4:6 breath ratio throughout forward folds and the option for Headstand or Shoulderstand (modifications offered), then finish with guided meditation. This class previously aired on June 5, 2024. This is the first class in Kia’s four-class Solar Activation Series, designed to coincide with summer solstice energy. This series is designed as a weekly progression, with each class intended for one week at a time.
