Jo Tastula is a senior yoga teacher with over 30 years of dedicated practice, study, and teaching in yoga and the healing arts. She is the co-founder of Yoga Heart Mind, where she has guided students for decades through a practice rooted in depth, integrity, and lived experience.

Her work reflects extensive training across classical yoga lineages, including Krishnamacharya, Iyengar, and Ashtanga, alongside long-standing spiritual inquiry informed by the teachings of Ram Dass and his sangha. Her approach weaves in a nuanced understanding of complementary healing and shamanic traditions, which she integrates with sensitivity and respect.

Based on the coast of Western Australia, Jo teaches with clarity, steadiness, and quiet authority. Her approach moves beyond physical form, supporting students in cultivating awareness, resilience, and compassion through practices that evolve with the body and the changing seasons of life.

Widely respected for her grounded presence and intuitive guidance, Jo invites an unhurried, exploratory practice—one that honors both discipline and the mystery at the heart of yoga. She is also the mother of two daughters, a role that continues to inform the depth, care, and perspective she brings to her teaching.

This practice focuses on improving strength and mobility in everyday transitions, such as standing to sitting, sitting to standing, lunging forward, and lunging backward. You’ll work on increasing mobility and balance with drills and exercises, and apply them to transitions.
